Sputtering at full throttle

2000 vt1100C sputters at full throttle at around 85mph, what can resolve this issue?
I have k&n air filter, and cobra drag pipes with baffles. I assume the bike is properly jetted since I had a shop do a full tune up shortly after purchasing it.

Well, if it's a fuel problem - Full throttle is all on the main jet only (dirty, clogged ?), maybe check float level too.

If you bought the bike with the mods listed already on it, the full tune up by the shop does not include changing to proper jets.

If you are indeed hitting full throttle, you are probably hitting the rev limiter. That would not be a carb issue.

Unless your gear ratios have been changed, 85MPH should not be the highest RPM so likely not Rev Limiter. It is possible your speedometer is really wrong so you need a way to check your real speed (GPS app?). Here we have one highway that has a digital speed sign and that's good for checking speedo accuracy. Does the engine sputter at high rpms while bike is stationary?

Simplest thing would be to pull out the K&N and see if your top speed goes up. Also I doubt a tune-up even looks at carbs so you still may have clogged main jets. Simplest is to run some Seafoam in the tank.

Next I would look at fuel filter, fuel pump and carb cleaning.

Take a good hard run and pull the plugs to read the color. They are your feedback.

So with the Cobra drag pipes, does your engine "pop" alot? Thats a good way to tell if your carbs have been jetted properly and the tapered needles installed.I went through that on my 98 1100c and I had to get the P180 jets for my pipes.

So I took apart and cleaned my carbs, and saw that the Jets were all stock. I bought cobra jet kit and installed it but now it feels like I'm lacking power when I accelerate. Is this normal with the cobra jet kit?

What gear do you have it in when it sputters?

In 5th gear, but I've made some changes to the carb as per my last post and no longer have that problem but now have other problems.
