So this is my first technical post, and I apologize in advance if I look like a total n00b here, but I've looked through this forum and all over the web for hours trying to find a simple explanation for this but keep going down the same rabbit holes with no answers...
Why does the "pulser plate" have 9 teeth, and only on one side? I can't find any other similar motorcycles that use this design.
The best I can come up with is that because it's 4-stroke, on the crankshaft, spinning twice as fast as the camshaft, therefore...one side (half)? it still seems to me with this large "sync gap" on the wheel would not run smoothly. IDK...
I feel like I should know the answer to this but am tired of looking, hopefully someone here can help me out! Any ignition system information would be welcome also!
2000 VT1100C Spirit, and yes I have the Honda Shop Manual for it...it seems to go out of its way to not discuss the Ignition system, the "pulser plate" and its operation!
