99 VT1100 spirit and the headlight is turning off on me.
This happened a few months ago and I was told to clean my starter switch. That was corroded, cleaned, headlight worked again. Thought that was it.
Couple days ago the headlight didn't light. I started checking things out and in the end if I hit the start button very slightly a couple of time the light will come back on and stay lit for a while. The contacts are all cleaned so I figure somewhere something is loose in the actual switch. Any ideas?
The actual button has a piece of copper with two bumps on it and those are the contact parts. They seem to be forced up by a spring or two? Is that the problem right there, the spring(s) are worn out? Should I just use a small screw driver and try to pry them up a little to make better contact? The bottom side has a ball bearing that has a spring is the problem there some how?
Just wondering if anyone knows the problem before I have to go invent the wheel over again. There is something going on in that switch, it's clean but something isn't right with the contacts, either not enough pressure or they are lined up wrong some how.
