2nd intro, how I came to buy my shadow

Hi, mike again, second intro post. So I've always wanted to ride and have been mountain biking all my life pretty much but I never really considered getting a motorcycle. That is until a few weeks ago... me and the wife were flipping through Facebook marketplace looking for a cheap car for her brother when we came across this 97 shadow. I may have said that's cool or something but she blurts out, "I want to ride on the back, go buy it! " I looked at her with a confused look on my face and said "really? " she said yes, and that was all I needed to hear! now she grew up in Vietnam riding vespas and said she misses riding so I messeged the guy and set up a time to look at it the next day. Brought my buddy with a license to test drive it for me and made a deal on the spot! 1900 bucks for a 97 shadow spirit 1100 with only 5600 miles! So far I love it. I've already started upgrading and have more plans for it

Nice looking ride Mike. Your wife sounds like a keeper.

Thanks, I really wish I had gotten a bike years ago. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it so far. And yeah she is definitely a keeper. We haven't had a chance to get out together yet but I'm really looking forward to enjoying the ride together. Here she is trying on the helmet I got her on Saturday. I think she likes it

Nice looking ride, but suggest taking a bike riding course as riding a motor bike is a different animal to a mountain bike.

Also suggest clocking up a few miles before taking your misses out for a ride... Glad your loving it...!!!

I took my class 2 weeks ago at motorcycle safety school. Got a perfect score on the road test even. I learned so much, it was well worth the money. I really think it would have taken a year, possibly several years of riding to gain the skills, and most importantly for me, the confidence that I got in just a weekend class. I'd recommend it to anyone getting into riding.

I'd recommend clocking at least 1000 miles by yourself before even attempting putting your wife on the back. And don't forget to adjust the bike accordingly when she rides.
