New Guy from Ohio

I just bought my first shadow yesterday. I've had two Suzuki Katanas and a v45 Magna previously. This is by far the nicest motorcycle I've ever owned though.

The Shadow has just a shade over 25,000 miles, is a '99 750 ACE, and is very clean.

The good: The previous owner (wife of a coworker) had installed highway bars, leather saddlebags, a sissy bar, a luggage rack, and a Memphis Shades windscreen.

The bad: The right side cover had fallen off and laid on the exhaust melting a large spot in it before it was caught, and one of the mounting ears on the front fender is cracked and needs repaired before it falls off all together.

Between rides I have put her on a diet by removing most of the add-ons as they're just not my style. Though I definitely will be keeping them around for longer rides and camping trips. I also have a few ideas to make it my own.

Onto the pics:
One from the PO that shows what it looked like when I picked it up:

Welcome. You're gonna enjoy the saddle time on that one!

If it jams, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Where abouts in Ohio are you located? I'm pretty much in between Akron and Youngstown.

Cool man. My wife and I went to college at Muskingum. Love the area and miss the hills. My brothers best friend moved around your area couple years ago I think it was near Frazeysburg. Nice bike, like the colors.

Welcome, nice classic looking ride.

I love the paint scheme.

How about a stripe of High Temp black paint along the lower edge of the side cover and the damage would disappear. Maybe follow the same angle as the top angle to hide it well.

Thanks, and thanks for the suggestion, I eventually will either fix it or replace it. In the meantime though that's a great idea.
