    Technical Discussion
Most of the newer bikes it is a green fuse plugged into the starter solenoid. probably under the seat/battery area.
  2. 1983 shadow vt750 poor idle and hesitation on acceleration

    Technical Discussion
Ride it first and check the plug colors. Then fine tune from there.
  3. My first post. 1984 shadow vt500 won't start. Help Please?

    Member Introductions
It may be the main fuse blew or is corroded. If you still have the factory 30 main fuse that is a thin strip of metal in a little black box replace it with an in line modern fuse holder. Here is what they look like.
  4. Fuel Pump Replacement

    Technical Discussion
I never hear mine at all on my 1983 750. It is the factory pump and rubber mounted and very quiet. Maybe an aftermarket one would be louder or not insulated.
  5. I need confirmation.. Too lean?

    Technical Discussion
Pretty lean. Did you do anything to the air intake? And are you torquing the plugs enough? The crush washer doesn't look like it was flattened.

  7. Riding question?

    General Bike Discussion
Learn the normal hand signals if you do it again to make it easy to communicate.
  8. 1987 Shadow VT700- Poor gas mileage

    Technical Discussion
If the plugs don't look dark? Is someone stealing your gas? Do you have the locking gas cap? Just remembered a story of a guy who bought a new VW bug in the 1960s. He bragged about getting over 40 MPG all the time and his neighbor was tired of it. So at night the neighbor started putting in a...

  11. Not your normal wobble problem - got any ideas?

    Technical Discussion
If all that has been done and it still feels like a problem, why not run the tire pressure up to 35 pounds and see if it makes it feel stable. I run my front at 36# and rear at 38 #. It is better for the tire and could take some of the bounce out of the tire that may be what you are felling. A...

  13. Shadow 600 acting weird at high speed

    Technical Discussion
When you get it to happen shut it off and drain the float bowls to see if 1 or 2 ounces of fuel are in there. It may have a poor fuel suply that shows up at high speed, and one carb has just a bit more fuel in it to keep it running on one cylinder. Then at idle the fuel trickles in to fill the...
  14. '83 750 with no clutch lever resistance

    Technical Discussion
They are tough to bleed sometimes. Some guys say to loosen the banjo bolt to get an air bubble out. Here is an alternative trick - look after the 22 minute mark for the bleeding.
  15. I have a 1985 Honda Shadow 500 My fan wont kick on

    Technical Discussion
The fan sensor is at the bottom of the radiator. If you ground the wire to it you make sure there is battery power and complete wiring through the fan motor to the sensor.
  16. Gas Mileage with V-stacks and Open Exhaust?

    Technical Discussion
I don't have experience with the major changes like intake stacks. But I keep hearing about guys doing it and working for months getting it to run even as well as before. Maybe an exaggeration, but it can be a long procedure to tune these CV carbs with intake changes. I think 60MPG is great. I...

  18. Final gear case removal

    Technical Discussion
I was checking mine out on my 1983 750 but only took the rear section off. I keep thinking it is bolted from the inside. But here is a picture of yours and it looks like all 3 bolts are from the outside so it should slide out easily if you have the clearance...
  19. Hello from Eastern Virginia

    Member Introductions
I have a smaller Spitfire shield so it doesn't help as much as I thought for wind buffeting. But I would imagine a larger shield would make high speed more comdortable with less wind blast.
  20. Older shadows make more power?

    General Bike Discussion
How are the late 1990's VT1100 for adequate power? I keep looking at 1997-1999 Aero models.
