It's weird, not sure why but when I spray down the bike it doesn't work, yes free mileage but hard to tell how fast you go. I guess when it dries up, it starts working again.

You're probably soaking the wiring connections down when you wash it. Be more careful where you're blasting water next time and see if still happens. Also, you might look in your manual and see where it connects to the harness.(headlight bucket perhaps?) That would be a good place to avoid for starters if that's where it is.

I would check the connector on the bottom of the speedo housing, it may not be fully seated in. Follow the wires from there looking for a cut in insulation.
