I have some pics of this bike in my gallery for reference....Question is are there any engine mods for this bike to gain additional HP? I have the carbs rejetted already because of the new pipes. I put in a K&N filter and saw no difference. Went back to stock filter.

I am installing new progressive springs now , a new custom front rotor, and new passanger floorboards so while I'm in there I'd like to soup her up!

What can I do...suggestions?

what jet sizes did you end up using? How about needle position? This stuff should be done together with all intake and exhaust mods in place first.

I got a noticeable difference when I removed exhaust baffles + K&N hi flow filter + bigger jets on my VT1100. I went with +1 from stock on jets and left everything else alone.

Others have used +2 on mains and reported good results. To do it right you need to take it to a shop and dyno the thing. There's only so much you can do, however. If it's running good, you may want to leave it alone.

Haven't tried changing passenger pegs though :)

Nice looking ride - BTW

I got the jet kit with the long shots I can't remember but I wanna say they were +1 on the mains.

The passenger boards will give it that extra speed for sure lol.

That question gets around on this forum quite a bit. Truth be told, there are, but only to a point. These engines are cruisers, not racers, so you can improve their airflow, sound and to a point, performance. If you're looking to shame some ricer somewhere, a Honda Shadow Aero probably isn't the best choice. But if you're looking for a little more smile when you twist the throttle, it can be found.

I tried the K&N thing as well, and decided to go back to stock. The biggest bang-for-the-buck mod that I've noticed was to cut out the opening of the airbox. I've got a thread on it here. http://www.hondashadow.net/forum/72-technical-discussion/360994-beyond-k-n.html

I also have a '98 Aero wearing Longshots. I love the sound of my bike and with just a few mods to make it mine, I can honestly say that there are VERY few other makes/models that pull my eyes easily away from my lowly Shadow. Great choice for a fun ride!

I also am adding braided brake line in the front (off topic)

Are the banjo bolts 10mm (3/8

or 12mm (7/16) on these?

I put on mini apes so I need a little more length. So I figured I'd go to stainless braided line.

Opened up the air box on my 1100 but also had to get larger mains and idle jets and adjustable needle to tweak to get it running right... I ended up with quite a bit larger than std but a lower needle height than I had previously with 1 up than std

Managed to get my economy back from how I first jetted it but gained bottom end and retained the top end power :)

Sounds lie a win-win Leathel. I'm glad you got it dialed in. Way to go!

I must have had the carbs out 15+ time with different jets, float heights, needle heights, and long runs in between to test economy.... I did loose a little up top as it doesn't quite hit the limiter in 3rd.... But who runs at those revs on a cruiser :p It will comfortly hit 100mph.... and again with our speed limit being 60 that doesn't get used.

I would love to crack the engine and tweak a few things..... but with under 40K on it I can't justify it with it going better than I need already... but I love to tinker so maybe one day (cam, piston, balance, maybe port etc).... Might need to find another and do a single seat version and do some Rad mods to the frame and engine. Can't see it happening anytime soon... working 7 days to catch up ATM and its going to take ages to clear the work and get the money in (short staffed with 1 away 3 weeks now on his big NZ tour and 2+ more to go)

I found the answer to my question. So for the Google searchers....the bolts to the caliper and master cylinder are 10mm through the brake hoses.

I know this will help someone...so your welcome whoever you are...
