I am new the Honda Shadow... just bought this bike earlier this week and it wont pass emissions. They told me it is running too rich... however, being new i dont know how to adjust the carbs to lean it out. Is there something i can put in the tank to bypass this step? Please give me some advice. The problem is with my Carbon Monoxide (CO) in% reading at 6.81 and the standard is 5.50.
thanks,
Jordan

Have seen gas additives at auto parts stores to put in gas to passs auto emission test. Never had need to try it but maybe someone on the forum knows more about these type products.

Your air/fuel mixture is too rich. Try to adjust it to put a little more air and you should be ok.

IDK if it will work on bikes, but my buddy added alcohol to pass emissions on his built CRX. what happens is that alcohol burns cleaner thus lowers emission readings. you could probably try this on a bike. My cousin also did it on his 91 civic. Maybe you could give it a shot.
