On my 500 which I just bought, there is a nipple on the side of the rear cylinder on left side, It was capped when i got the bike and uncapped it spurts gas. I put a rubber nipple on it and the bike seems to run fine. anyone know if there is supposed to be a hose running from it to somewhere?

Its a vacuum line to your automatic fuel shutoff style fuel petcock. Normally there is a line running from that to your petcock.

If you have it capped off than your likely not using the original petcock, or someone modified it.

It should be left capped since opening it causes air leaks. There should be no fuel coming from there however!

Thanks a lot Blue, any idea why gas would come out of there when running?
