I have an 86 Shadow 700 that the charging system quit working. I found the connector between the stator and regulator was melted. I tested both the regulator and stator and both were bad. I changed both them out, and installed a new battery (other battery tested bad). About 1000 miles later, the charging system failed again and the connector is melted again. Anyone else ever have this issue?

Three yellow wire connector? Only about a hundred posts or so on the forum. It's very common.

The connector is a weak spot in the charging system. Many (maybe most) will recommend cutting the connector out and soldering the wires instead. Some will use butt splices.
A new stator and R/R should last a lot more than 1000 miles. What brand did you replace the old ones with?
