Hello, My Brother passed away and left me his 88 Shadow VLX 600.
I have always loved the bike but when he bought a new Suzuki
Boulevard he just kind of forgot about the little Honda, now the carbs are
in need of attention. He had someone work on it and it ran fine for awhile
but started missing again, My brother attempted to work on it but had no luck..
I am thinking it was from the tank that was not cleaned and sealed, it just ran some rust through the clean carbs..
The bike only has 8300 miles on it!!
Does anybody have a PDF, Video or any other means of helping me walk through this?
I am not a bad Wrench turner but there are usually areas to pay attention to
and I am not familiar with these carbs...
ANY HELP is MOST Appreciated!!!
if you want to contact me directly.
It is time to get another Classic back on the road, with a little help from my friends here!
My email is [email protected]

Thank you Gentlemen, I appreciate any help. I love the little 600.
the sound and feel. The Suzuki Boulevard, even tho it is a lot flashier looking,
doesn't have nearly as good motor! It rattles and when starting up cold, smokes a bit revving at first! it only has 5800 miles on it!! Fkng junk!

If you had a filter on it, it shouldn't have sucked up any crap from the fuel system. Have you tried running seafoam through it before pulling the carbs?
