I finally got my motorcycle up and running after I bought it. I think the previous owner had the bike appart to paint the frame.
When upshifting I only get neutral. Did the previous owner put the linkage impoperly together?
I read the manual I got in this page, but the pictures are not the best quality.
Does anyone have pictures of how it should look and what to look for?

Title 1992 VT600.
Were the engine side covers taken off?
You might have to take off the right side cover to see how well the lever and teeth turn the shift drum.

The back cover on the left side was off when I got the bike.
I may come off as an idiot, but the gear leaver is on the left side? Does the mechanism pass though the bike to the right side?

Had a look at some youtube videos and I get how it works. Wild guess is the previous owner changed the pulser or something like that.
I'm guessing I need a new gasket while doing this job.
