I bought an all original 94 VLX 600 with only 3300 miles so it’s obviously been doing a lot of sitting. It starts and idles fine with no choke on and runs, but seems to be only firing at about half power or less. It doesn’t choke off while running, but there’s serious bogging that requires down shifting. When taking off it bogs down and feels like I’m trying to take off In 2nd gear. Noticed also the top exhaust pipe is much cooler than the other one. The local shop can’t get it in for 6 weeks so trying to figure out if it may be something minor that I can work on in the meantime. I have no experience, but guessing the carb may be gunked up from sitting with ethanol gas or one side isn’t getting spark for whatever reason.... any ideas or suggestions about what the problem may be is much appreciated! First time owner/rider so I apologize if I said something that makes zero sense.

It is running on one cylinder and the carbs need cleaning.
Mostly sitting for a quarter of a century it is not too surprising.

A good find, should be a nice bike when you get it running right.

Check the color of the spark plugs. That will tell you rich or lean.
