Ok, hi guys first time asking for info let me start by letting you guys know what happened, I was slow charging the battery and left the key on the ignition, I mean on lights on and everything, let for work and it started raining, when I came cack I noticed what happened and tried to started, all I got was a major clicking sound from the solenoid area, I checked the fuses they are all OK, so I thought I fried the solenoid, no biggie I'll get a new one, well I've gotten 3 none work, when I install them I get nothing not even any lights or anything, when I install the old one there is lights it just won't start and clicks like there is a short inside, if I shake the solenoid I can hear something loose in there, any ideas on what might be going on, thanks for any info.

Check the voltage on the battery... A trickle charger won't keep up with the power draw of the lights and running the bike electrically... You may need a new battery, or I could be completely wrong... I would check the voltage on the battery with the key off. Then check the voltage with you trying to start the bike with the original solenoid...

On the new solenoids, are the letters in the pic below on the same right-hand, left-hand side, as the Oem solenoid? Note the difference on the second pic.

I agree,it sounds like you have a battery issue. I would leave the original solenoid on and replace the battery. Just my opinion.
The selinoid is a switch. What you have done is probably fried the battery. You might get lucky and charge the battery back up but.... Also don't go to Walmart and get a battery. Spend money for a Yuasa AGM http://mediacdn.shopatron.com/media...59ee16d2e892363e3216fad1066d2b.jpg?1334186167 My stock was 7 yrs. old when I sold the bike but I did take care of it during off season.

Ron it looks more like the first one, a bit different it does not have the square box in front but under it, and at the bottom is MR5 2, i was thinking the battery too, but why would the cluster lights and head light go on with the old solenoid but not the new one, (i tried 3 different ones) :-(

They may be the incorrect one.

That's why I said I would put the old solenoid back on. Cant explain the light situation with the new solenoids but if the old one worked fine before killing the battery I don't see any reason to replace it.

the old solenoid sounds like there is something loose in there when i shake it, the new one if from another shadow, they look exactly the same, i will pick up another battery and see if that helps, is reading 12.8 i dont think there is anything wrong with iy, i should pull the one from my other bike

  • it does not have the square box in front but under it,
Are you using a square red box to plug the harness wires into the solenoid?
Well i figure out what was up, well actually my 4 year old did, yes i know how the hell a 4 year old did let me explain, i took the old solenoid out and put it next to the new one, and started checking the cables to make sure there was nothing wrong with them, when i hear my daughter say B, M M, B over and over again, she started to get on my nerves, when i went to take the solenoids away from here she says "daddy they are back ward" it took me a while to find out wtf she what talking about when i noticed that on top of the solenoids there is a B and an M on the original it went from left to right, on the new one it was backwards , changed the cables and book problem solved, i just finished making her 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies.
That's just too funny! Ya' gotta love it. Lucky you, AND her. She works a lot cheaper than your local Honda wrench.
My grandson @ 4 yrs. was watching me assemble a grill and proceeded to my rollaway and came back with two 7/16" wrenches and proceeded to adding additional bolts to the hood section. Kids do the darndest things. You better keep your keys hidden to the bike!
