Couple months ago I bought a 97 vt1100 ace in great shape, it was well maintained by the previous owner, has just over 87000km on it, I've got things I'm changing out on it and I've been able to do a few different things so far. I'll continue to post pics until I'm at where I'd like to be with it.
I have a '97 Shadow ACE VT1100C2 as well. Yours looks in much better shape. Only mods I did to my Shadow that made a real difference was install 10" mini apes and replaced the stock seat. Can't wait to see your progress.
Thanks man, what's yours look like? I got lucky, the previous owner took real good care of it and I got a good deal on it. I cant wait to actually ride it!!
Here's a recent picture (minus the saddle bags). I would say this is her best side. The left side has a big dent in the gas tank. The right side has a some little dents that I created. She looks good if you stand at least 6ft away though.
Bought this set of crash bars from a local motorcycle salvage and sales yard, under $100, they have some rust and wear on them but cant beat the deal, anyone know if I'll have to change out my floor boards to make them fit?
Hey, thanks, no I didnt, was on the bike when I bought it. Not sure if they were added on or if the ace came with them from factory. The signals also have them to
No I didnt make them, was on the bike when I bought it, think they may be factory or added feature, they bolt onto the signal lense bolts.
Finally got it out for a ride yesterday and today, amazing bike!
Found these grips on amazon, good price, although the throttle sleeve on the bike is a little small, managed to figure something out that will hopefully work until I can get a different sleeve or different set of grips
Ordered this fairing today. Wasnt sold on the design at first but after measuring up on my shadow, it was the best fit aside from a batwing. Going to need to find a 6inch headlight that will wire up to my harness.
Hey Kyle! I saw something similar but more of a cafe racer type bullet fairing from Krator as well. It was for a 7" headlight and the OD for my Shadow is roughly 7.75 in. Oh well. I've got a new mod for my motorcycle. Thanks to this forum I am turning my Shadow into a Sabre! I got a great deal on a 2007 Sabre rear wheel (with a new tire!) on eBay because people on this forum said it was an easy swap. Now I've gotta find a cheap front wheel.
When I was swapping out my wheels I noticed that one of my detachable saddle bag locking mechanism disapeared! It must've rattled off on the highway somewhere?
That's my little joke. I think after '99 the VT1100 Shadow ACE morphed into a Sabre. Funny, huh? When I bought my motorcycle it was pretty "weathered". Keeping the surface rust off the chrome rims was a chore and the spokes . . . Fugetaboutit. Keeping the shiny bits shiny is no way to spent ones day off. I don't know how Harley guys do it.
