I've got an 02 shadow spirit 1100 and a 98 shadow 1100 not sure what actual model it's is. I want swap the engines. I will have help but was wondering if I would need to change any parts or plugs that kinda stuff?

Shouldn't be an issue unless the 98' is a single pin variant from a Ace/Aero then somebody will chime in to help with this swap but if it came from a twin pin Spirit/VT1100C or Ace Tourer, no issue.

Look at the engine codes which are on a boss cast into the right side of the engine just below the cylinders. Then you will know what you have and have a good idea what might be involved in making a swap.

There were quite a few variations of the VT1100 engine. Here's the ones I've heard of.

o SC18 = Shadow
o SC23 = Spirit
o SC32 = A. C. E.
o SC37 = ACE Tourer
o SC39 = Aero
o SC43 = Sabre

01'-02' Aero were fitted with twin pin motors. A anomaly that exist in the 1100 lineup.
