What is the first thing you'd check if your 1990 VT1100 started to backfire under acceleration and bog down?

I've re-upholstered the seat and I wondered if I'd created a restrictions somewhere above the air intake. That's when I dicovered its a genuine backfire as I rode it without the seat and felt the "shots" go up the backside

Thanks

First thing I'd check....that my butt is not on fire!!!!!
Maybe a pinched tank vent line, pinched gas line or loose rubber boot clamps. Kinda sounds like "fuel starvation".

Yip, guess what I found. A pinched fuel line right where it enters the fuel pump. Hasn't totally fixed the problem though. Will now replace fuel filter and plugs and see what happens.
