Any riders/members near Olympia, WA?

Hi everyone!

I am interested in either joining or starting a group of people who ride near the Olympia area so that I have some good fun this summer! The weather is getting warmer and of course, that's the first thing that comes to mind... :) I know we still have lots of winter left, but no time like the present to start planning.

I'm a fairly new rider and am less interested in speed than just getting there safely and enjoying the scenery along the way. I'm an amateur photographer and tend to want to stop at the scenic places...to the dismay of some people I know. :)

I would like to network with both men and women riders who just like to cruise to see if we can get something going for the South Puget Sound area. I thought about putting an ad on Craigslist. I've looked around some and haven't seen any groups nearby, except the Harley Shop people and I doubt they want a little Shadow 750 tagging along...LOL

Anyway, I have no idea how to go about starting anything and am not typically an organizer... so, any suggestions from you??

Thanks a bunch!

I'm pretty close here on Vancouver Island (a few hours + ferry ride to Port Angeles), but don't make it down to Olympia often. If you ever organize a ride over to the island let me know and I'll join in!
I actually made it up to Victoria for the first time this summer and had a blast! No motorcycles that day though. We went up on the Coho (?). I'd love to take the bike on the ferry one day.

I've pretty much cut ties with my main motorcycle riding buddy, so I need to find some locals to play with. Taking off on my own is just a little too daunting this early in my riding career. It would be easy if I were already familiar with the area, but I still don't really know my way around these parts! :?

Don't know if this will help, but my older brother rode with people that got together through e-mail. He is from Bremerton. The groups name is Wet Leathers because that is what you get riding in the Pacific Northwest!

Don't discount the HD people. They like to ride just as much as we do. I do more riding with Harley's than I do any other bikes.
I go out of my way to talk with them. If I pull up behind a HD rider, I will start the conversation with, "Man that's a real beauty"! Most of them reply with, "That's a nice looking Shadow" Some say, "Is that Honda"?
Check out the last post I made in this thread;

Don't get me wrong... I would happily ride with HD folks. It's just the thought of riding up to Northwest Harley on one of their weekend functions on my Shadow with no HD friend to introduce me around that I would find somewhat intimidating... LOL I 'm sure there would be others like me in the group, but they would be *with* someone who has a Harley... know what I mean?
