I bought an '83 VT 500 awhile back. It is missing the battery box and regulator/rectifier. I bought battery box pieces on ebay and was wondering if someone could post some pix so I can see what it is supposed to look like.

I am going to start working on it so my wife can ride with me now that she has taken her msf course.

this link shows the parts in exploded view quite nicely. i have ordered several small parts from them. ebay is a good place for parts.

Battery box replacement was the first thing I did on my 1997 ACE 1100. The acid just chews it up, so I powder coated it before installing. You might consider coating it if you intend to keep the bike for a while.

Probably won't keep it too long. I bought real cheap and want to fix it up so she can learn on. Once she gets comfortable riding we will probably trade it for something newer and a little bigger.

to get more performance your going to have to go quite a bit bigger. don't sell that little 500 short, its a lot of bike.
