Beautiful day to ride. on the hwy and notice my speedometer is acting up. first the needle is pinging back and forth then my mileage is blinking out...

i'm noticing my lights flickering too at night...

i boughT a battery 2 months ago but i don't own a tender...

could it be the battery or a grounding problem?

Check the easy things first. I'd start with making sure the battery terminals are clean and tight.

It's a good excuse to go to Home Depot and buy a $10 digital multimeter.

I don't know what years they still used them, but my old 1983 750 had a very Japanese looking 30 amp. main fuse that was a thin strip of fusible metal that could be replaced by another thin strip. And when I looked at it I found it was cracked and barely touching.
Now I have a maxi-fuse instead.
Just one place to look for a problem.

John Boys`05 VTX done that, along with engine cutting out...
It was a loose disconnection at the battery...

lol, my negative terminal could jingle...
my positive terminal was i tiny bit loose too...
i think that fixed it.
Back to basics.... thanks everyone
