I have loud pipes and a helmet with abundant noise makers that double as vents. An hour ride, and I'm basically deaf for that long afterward.

I don't like wearing earplugs while riding, though, because I want to hear things like traffic, my bike, etc. I decided to try a pair of these plugs that claim to reduce volume without blocking frequencies. They're for situations like concerts and riding, where we want to hear everything...just not so loud:

"Vibes" is a dumb name but man they are super comfortable (even when getting helmet on/off) and work very well. They reduce the volume of the world without blocking it, it's true. It's actually a trip to be motoring on and hear everything with such clarity. Wind noise is practically eliminated, which is really what was beating on my eardrums before. They're excellent and make riding a lot more pleasant. Around $25 on Amazon, try em!

I may have to give a set a try.
I'm like a poster boy for ear damage due to loud noise caused by race cars, race bikes and rock and roll.
Eventually the ringing in your ears after prolonged exposure doesn't go away.
