Short of rechroming is there any compound wax or paint even other color than chrome if need be , rust spot is bout size of a dime maybe smaller im more intetested in function than asthetics at this point. Just wana slow the spread. I thought i shurly cant be the first on this forum id like to here how others resolved the issue.

If it's not pitted, hit it with a ball of tin foil. Then put a good coat of wax on them.

0000 steel wool works, tin foil and water does the job too.

Wax....that will cause chrome to pit and rust faster, it seals the surface and does not allow the chrome to 'breath'.
Use a good chrome specific polish.

I use steel wool, dipped in vinegar to get that nasty stuff off...
Or just steel wool, depending on need...
HINT: I don`t drink Coke because of this Rust Topic ;)

We use rust inhibitor POR15 on our Ranchero Car-trucks when we wanna Stop Rust in its Tracks...
However....
The Coke and or vinegar will remove it...
