My bike dies a minute after startup in the morning a couple times a week. I disconnect the fuel line from the petcock and I hear pressure being released. Then the bike runs fine! It only happens in the morning. I ride the bike 365 days.

I've had a similar problem from time to time. Mine will usually start and idle fine, but about 1 out of every 20 times, within the first mile of riding it will splutter, lose power and die. I can take the gas cap off for a few seconds, put it back on and ride fine all day.

I've checked the tank vent hose and everything seems to be clear but sometimes it will do it.

Thanks bluegrass1. At least I now know I'm not crazy. I'll have to try the gas cap trick ... it's a lot easier that taking the gas line off.

John Boy had an issue with the vacuum petcock on his 05 1300

Might check that on ??? whatever model Bike??? ....
I have a 2009 Shadow Aero 750. I replaced the petcock vacuum hose as it had a crack in it, but the bike still acts up once every couple of weeks. I have been using stabil every couple of weeks and I have been using hi-test gas. These seem to have helped.
