Okay, so I'm very new at this sort of thing and I realize there is likely an obvious solution to my problem. Much to my embarrassment, I just can't seem to find it!

Here's the issue: I just bought a new brake light/tail light/license plate light for my 2003 Shadow Spirit. As I get the wires on the new light connected, the new tail light comes on and stays on. When the bike is idling, it's on. When I apply the brake, there's no change - it's just as bright as when idling. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks.

Try reversing your brake/tail light wires. The brake is on all the time and when you apply the brake lever, you light the tail light element which is dimmer and unnoticeable.
