Among other problems my bike has, brakes are a big one. The po took the rear rotor off and rode the bike for months with front brakes only. He did that because the rear brakes were badly worn, with LARGE grooves in the rotor. We'll the front rotor also has said grooves.

In search for replacement rotors, it seems that my choices are limited to EBC, or some parts SHIPPED from China. So here's my question, anyone on here replaced the factor rotor with something other than an EBC rotor? Were EBC's OE on a 01 Sabre? On eBay, I'm looking at spending ~$270 just for the EBC rotors, where as some that are shipped from China would be around $140.

Thoughts?

My bike is an 01 Sabre.

The china parts are just shipped from there, there are several different brand names, but I don't recognize them. Local Honda placed wanted over $400 for rotors and pads. I've looked at JP Cycle and a couple other aftermarket parts places, and all they carry is EBC, and they are higher than eBay.

And suggestions of where else to shop for parts?

I've gone by a couple bike shops in the area, but none of them have a lathe to turn bike rotors. And I don't think the local auto parts store lathe can turn them either.

I did find one from EBC on JC Whitney last night for $63, the only reason I haven't ordered it yet is because I don't know if it fits the front or rear. And when I chatted up the online tech guy, he said the rotor I was looking at would not fit my bike, even though I had searched for parts specific to my bike.

My bike is not at my house currently (long story). Does anyone know if the rotors for an 01 Sabre are the same size front and rear?

You're not likely to find anybody that will turn motorcycle rotors on a conventional brake lathe. The motorcycle rotors are too thin.

If you really want to try turning them, you have to find a transmission shop that will surface grind them. I have had success having rotors done this way.

I'm sure there a many motorcycle bone yards that have what you need, if you don't want to buy new. I too, would stay away from the Chinese garbage....

Brake rotors are drilled and slotted. Can you post a pic of the rotors showing the gouges.
Sorry it took so long, but here are a few pictures. As you can see some of the groves are deep, not like what you would see in a slotted rotor.

The front rotor is just as bad, and the PO was riding with front brakes ONLY for months (IDIOT!!).

They are not the same size.

Funny about China junk. Your driving mostly china parts.

For me China rotors would be fine on a bike, as you would not be generating that much heat on a cruiser as apposed to a pocket rocket. And we are guessing at QC of these products.
If you did manage to generate that much heat you would start to notice it slowly as the brake would slightly grab from warping. But I would be really surprised if they did.
