Hi all,

I have a Vt500 with a newly rebuilt carb. I'm trying to test the thing, but it cuts power over.4000 RPM. I'm testing it without the air plenum; just the.carbs on the bike with a long fuel hose to the tank on my bench.

I've noticed that the slides never move as I rev the motor. I figure they should, but maybe they won't till I have the plenum back on? Or maybe there is a blocked line inside the carb that triggers the slides?

Also, is there a trick to getting the plenum back on the bike? I can't seem to get the thing fully seated.

Thanks all...

If the slide never moves you aren't getting enough fuel, maybe you have a split in the diaphragm..Hold it up to the light and gently stretch the rubber away from the edge..

The trick to getting the plenum back on the bike is to use the service manual or the photos that you took when you were disassembling the parts.

John.
