I always wondered why helmet makers hadn't come out with a football type helmet with a face mask. This looks like something a kicker would wear.

I like them. From what I've read, the bar in front is very strong and light weight. I think it's some type of space plastic.

They're not sold in the States yet, but can be imported for around $700.

You are so right. It's just that that helmet looks huge and more likely to fit Gil than Erin. She did have big hair back then though.

I would love to give that helmet a try. Don't think I'll be seeing it for a long while though. And I don't think I would ever pay $700 for a helmet....

Nice idea, but I don't know if it's suitable for sunny areas. My wife and I use a solar cooker extensively in the summer months, and that helmet looks like it would have many of the same properties -- a fully enclosed area collecting a lot of solar radiation. Of course, it probably comes with a tinted shield as well, which would really give it a space helmet look.

I think that is one sharp looking cover. A slight mirror effect on the visor would be even sharper, or a light sensitive shield that darkens in UV light.

Somewhere I read that you should buy a helmet as expensive as
you can afford. - So I finally bought the Shcuberth J1.
Well I had tried a few, Nolan, Momo, Arai and Shoey but somehow
I wanted an open face but was concerned about protection.

The J1 has a few surprices. The hoop (chin guard) is something new
but what I have found out is that it has a few other merits.
In order to justify this price, it had to. !

Firstly I noticed that I don't need earplugs, it is so silent.
Then I noticed that at high speeds it is stable, I can read the
numberplates of cars far away.
Then I don't have to bring my sunglasses anymore, and fogging
is copletely eliminated.

My only complaint is that it took me some time to get used to the lock
on the strap. I don't understand the need to re-invent something
that is already proven to work.
