What can I use to clean the stator and clutch covers? Metal polish doesn't seem to help. They look old and faded.

You have a 1983 VT750C. I 'think' those covers are aluminum. The best polish I have found for aluminum is White Diamond metal polish. It's available at Advance Auto Parts and online.

They have a clear coat the gets ugly with the years, so on mine I just sanded them with 320 (or finer) grit down to the aluminum, and then re applied a clear coat. Looks much better.
If you sand in a straight line it looks a lot like the factory finish.

Never Dull works pretty good. Gotta use A LOT of elbow grease though.
