Need some help figuring this out.

I recently changed out the clutch porch, adjust screw and nut along with a new clutch cable.

I went ahead and set the cable as per the service manual and brought it to an even & proper tension.

Now the issue, When the clutch handle is full depressed, the bike will not roll, it stays engaged.

I've tried to screw the adjustment screw (engine side) in all directions thinking the cable wasn't pulling the lever enough but that didn't work either.

Then I used a piece of wood to move the clutch lever all the way forward and tried to move the bike, again the clutch stayed engaged.

So I'm left to believe that the clutch is somehow stuck.

The bike is an 06 with 141 miles on it, this problem wasn't happening with the old cable.

However, I have since changed the oil in her, and the temps here have been in the 20's lately.

I'm thinking that there is some sort of hydraulic friction causing the clutch no to disengage that may or may not be due to cold weather.

I would have started the bike up to heat things up but I'm having my tank cleaned and sealed.

Needless to say its driving me crazy not being able to figure it out.

Thoughts on what could be causing this? :???:

Why are you changing the oil and clutch cable on a bike with only 141 miles? When you pull the clutch lever does it look like the rod at the transmission end look like it's moving correctly? Just to verify, you didn't go into the clutch, it was just a cable change.

If all you changed was the cable and the clutch won't disengage even when you push the lever all the way forward, I think you are probably right about friction in the clutch.

Good luck.

I got the bike back in Oct and have since been cleaning her up and getting her working, the last owner bought her new in 06 and when he moved up here from TX never rode her, left her outside uncovered since 07, I figured why not get fresh liquid's in her. As for the clutch cable, he somehow managed to strip the porch and adjustment screw and the cable was rusted some spots as well as the jacket looking very faded....figured it wouldn't hurt changing it out.

And yes, i did not crack either crank case.

You could try to put the trans. in 4th gear and pull the clutch lever and try to rock the bike or roll down a small grade to see if the clutch plates will spin free.
Don't need to start it for that trick.

Thank you, that's what I did but used 2nd gear instead. Seems to have worked. It wouldn't be a stretch to think the cold temps caused this.
