for the time being can I use electrical tape to bee
Those pipes have a special design O ring seal.
Some guys have tried regular O rings wih some success.
Best to get the right part.
#10 on this page. Maybe a local dealer.

you think i could just use electrical tape to beef it up while i wait for the part to come in?

You would have to pull the pipe out to wrap tape on it. I guess it is worth a temporary try but not a very good repair with coolant.

Teflon tape would be my attempt , If I could'nt find one . Might try the auto parts store . They might have an assortment kit behind counter ....

+1 on get the right o-ring. I tried to find a better type of o-ring for the crossover pipe. I couldn't find the correct size anywhere. When I changed the o-rings out with the Honda part I found out that nothing else would have ever fit.

Thanks for the link! just traded for a 86 last week. Just found the original owners manual today on eBay, I had no idea they were like hens teeth!
