hey guys on my 84 shadow 700
it ran fine then ignition box fried (my stupidity) then it ran fine and would rev up but was running on one cylinder. i got a used ignition control on ebay and now the bike fires right up but dies out every time i try to give it gas...the box has the exact part numbers as the original. any ideas?
like i said the bike ran fine without the new box just lacked power greatly

btw i am getting spark now on all 4 spark plugs and exhaust is hot on both sides.
carbs were just cleaned before ignition control fried
putting on the choke also kills the engine

Well as you have confirmed you are getting good hot spark to each plug (congrats BTW), so that only leaves two other things to the equation. Gas & air! Either you are still not getting the gas you need or you are choked for air. Start with the simple stuff and eliminate all the culprits.

Look at the FSM and check the pulse generator resistance.
Also, check your fuel lines and air cleaner.
