This morning on my way to school my 2003 Shadow Ace 750 was making a strange sound. It sounded like someone was trying to flick a lighter on. This was whenever I had the clutch in. Then coming off a light it stalled and shut off completely. No lights no nothing. Anyone have any insight?

Check it's got oil, then check you have petrol in the tank, if you have a vacuum petcock (vacuum powered fuel tap) then the diaphragm may have given up making it so no fuel gets the the carb(s)

Sounds like an electrical system issue to me. I'd check the charging system, starting with the stator connector, ( 3 yellow wires). Was that "flicking" sound more like something rubbing, or more like an electrical arc? Did you SMELL anything?

Look at the battery terminals for clean and tight.
Other guys have had a loosened terminal and the bike acted up and died.

I don't think any of those would kill all electricals (lights etc.). I'm in the relay, fuse and cable connection camp.

Did you run out of gas?
Ticking/clicking could be the fuel pump running out of gas, on the 750 ACE there is no vacuum petcock so you don't need to worry about that.
