I've currently got some small diameter drag pipes on my 1100 and while I like the loud, dirty sound when I get on it, I wish it had a deeper rumble at idle and lower RPMs.

Just curious whether larger diameter pipes would make it sound deeper, or if it's just dependant on the baffling.

Thanks,

Jud

While I'm not 100% sure

Drag pipes don't have a thump thump sound, they are just loud, And most of them have no baffle, I think that is most of the reason why they don't have the sound your looking for.

I have Vance & Hines Cruzers and while they are a deep tone loud, if I take the baffles out of them they will be more higher pitched loud.

I think the sound your looking for would come from a shotgun style exhaust or a slashcut exhaust (with baffles).

In general, the smaller the diameter of the pipes, the longer they need
to be to get a deeper note.

The shorter they are, they bigger in diameter they need to be.
