2006 Shadow Spirit VT1100 manual recommends a final drive change change at 24,000 miles: Does that seems to be the average mileage experienced among owners, or would something less be more appropriate? Do you have to replace the drain bolt o-ring and filler cap o-ring at each change? Thanks.

for your info...i change mine every 2 yrs. just for peace of mind purposes. It's a cheap maintenance and you have a peace of mind. Drive safe.

Since it costs so little to do and takes only about 5 minutes, I do mine every other oil change.

I have 16k on the bike, just changed it this morning for the second time. No you don't have to change the o ring on the filler hole or the aluminum washer on the drain plug. Just don't over crank them and they will be fine. I believe the book says 9 lbs although I dont use the torque wrench on those. Snug + 1/4 turn.

Thanks for the input, guys. I know on my '81 CB900 that I could re-use the o-rings with no problems. The service manual for the 2006 Spirit says to replace, that's what I was curious about. Thanks again.
