Hey guys... I donno what's going on... maybe you can help me out...

I started installing the front sprocket (as part of the entire chain/sprocket change i'm doing). WHen I started to put on the new front 17T, I noticed that it didn't look the same as the old one...

THe new one I got is Sprocket Specialist part # 599, 17T...

There are a few differences between the new front and the old front sprockets.... The new front 17T sprocket is a lot thinner than the original. The new one also seem bigger, as it touches the gearshift arm and won't rotate freely :( ...

Another difference i noticed is that the screws won't go in all the way (like in the old spricket)... I'm not sure what's going on or if this is a common occurance...but from what I can tell this sprocket won't fit with my 2000 750 ACE. Maybe the machining didn't go right ? or do I need some fine tuning to make this work ?

Here's a pic of what i'm talking about...

ANY THOUGHTS / HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED !

From the pics I'd say that is definetly the wrong sprocket. I checked their web site and the part number is correct at 599. Maybe it was mispackaged. Are there any markings on the new sprocket? It's very odd that it hits your shift shaft. When you set one on top of the other is the new one a larger diameter? I would e-mail the company your pictures and see what they say. Don't you hate it when that stuff happens? Your not alone. I just ordered a set of hard bags and one lid came cracked at the latch. Hope the next sprocket is the right one. :D

THanks for the reply... ya, it seems like it's not the right type. THere are markings on the sprocket... it says 599 and 17T... but it just doesn't look right... When I set one on top of the other, it does appear just slightly larger than the old one... and when i put the old one one, it spins freely of the gearshift arm... but then new one just catches at the ends, as if the teeth were a bit too long. I gotta email the guy i bought it from... I bet it was just mis-pachaged...

Wish me luck !
