I have weak to no spark on my front cylinder. Swapped plugs, no change. Swapped wires, no change. Swapped coils and spark units - no change. Here's the weird thing. When I leave all four plugs in, and then use a spare plug, I get a nice healthy spark. But if I pull the plug from the cylinder and try to fire it, nothing - except for an occasional weak spark.

When you say "swapped", do you mean moved around or replaced? Some older non-wire plug wires don't hold up well over time and with constant movement from air. Pull an auto plug wire and try again to see if there is improvement.

Dave - I replaced them around 2 months ago. Both wires to the front cylinder... when I thought that might be my issue (turned out to be pulse generator).

Sooo..... is this fixed now? "(turned out to be pulse generator)".

And if not which model of 83' Shadow do you have?

Landon - yeah, I fixed the pulse generator about a month ago. And I think I figured out the problem with my plugs. They were wet, and combined with a worn down battery from trying to get it started today - I think that's the problem. Anyway, I was working on my carbs and think I got it all finally fixed today. It's been a great year for learning about the mechanics of this bike - 83 750. Thanks for the help fellas!
