I needed a garage door opener for when I'm on the bike. Almost bought a small one at Home Depot, but I hate having to carry one more piece of stuff to misplace or break.

I found a phone app that works my garage door opener at BT Mate — Simple, Low-Cost Android Garage Door Opener and More It's just a small Bluetooth device you connect to your garage door opener. Easy to install and works with android and iphone. Costs $50.00 and the app is free. It will take up to eight phones or tablets.
Works great, and I'm not carrying another piece of equipment.

There was one problem. My old iphone was a model four and and didn't support Bluetooth 4.0. So I had to buy a new phone.

Had an old garage door opener lying around. Bought a 2-wire mini push button switch from ebay and soldered the wires to the garage opener pcb. Stuck the garage door opener inside my side cover and drilled a small hole for the switch. My total cost for the entire project - $5!!

I keep my garage door opener along with my keys hanging on my beltloop by a carabiner . I never go outside with out them. As I get cloce to my home I reach down hit the button the door rolls up as I do. You can see a bit of it in my pic below

I would love to have a button on the handlebars somewhere to open the garage but for now I have an opener i programmed all three buttons the same and keep it in my riding jackets cell pocket. So all I do is squeeze the pocket as I come up to the door.

Did that on my GL1800. Super convenient. I hit it as I'm driving up the drive so I don't have to wait.

on my Areo I used Velcro and a small opener, and just attached it under tank, just had to reach down and hit button, out of sight out of mind. On my current bike its mounted to bracket for windshield, works good, just not hidden as well

Hmmm. Now I wish I had brought this up in the forum before I bought the blue tooth device.

When I get home, I pull into the drive, put the kick stand down (there's an incline), take my gloves off, get the phone out, get fingerprint recognition from me to the phone to unlock it, find the app, then open the garage door. Sigh...

Get a flash to pass. . Bit pricey but flash high beam twice and door goes up or down
If you're handy, there are DIY guides all over the internet to wire a spare opener to your high beam for a fraction of the cost of the flash to pass.

My jacket has small zippered chest pockets, so I just bought a spare opener, took the metal clip off and I keep it in the chest pocket of my jacket with the button facing out. Press the pocket, door opens.

howdy, same problem, different solution

I got a second( or was it third) garage door opener coded and wrapped it in sandwitch bag for rain protection then put a rubber band around that in case the bag broke then velcroed the bag to the scoot--you choose where. mine has stayed put for 16,000 miles no problems. just get in view of the door and push the button. it's like "open says me" or for some "open sesame". doesn't look too sharp where I have it, but it works. it also works with the scoot in the garage and I need to close the door on the way out. push the button and dodge through the door as it closes. "intelesting" no?
