I am 53 and had a Honda Hornet 599 and really wanted a shadow. Well I got one. 03 Shadow Ace VT750 American Classic Edition with only 1300 miles on it.
The reason I joined is to gain knowledge, mainly I need to clean my carbs and was told not to use carb cleaner from a dealer. But a buddie said it's fine and to also use "sea foam".
Don't want to mess up my new bike.

Congtats on your new bike, and welcome to the forum.

Adding Sea Foam (per directions) to the gas won't hurt anything and will indeed help clean your fuel system. If your bike is running fairly well, running a couple tanks with Sea Foam might just do the trick. If it's running really crappy, you might be better off pulling the carbs and overhauling them.
