My first time so have a few questions,

1.What all do I need to remove on right front to get valve cover off? Air cleaner housing? Radiator filler cap housing and hoses?

2. There was a small amount of oil in air cleaner housing cover. Normal or an issue?

Your first question should have been... "I have this XX,XXX many miles, do i need to worry about adjusting them?"

I have a little over 12,000 miles on my 2005 Shadow Aero and am following the instruction in the manual I downloaded from this site. It's only helpful once the valve covers off. I was hoping for some help from someone that had experience similar to what I was dealing with. I'll be thru next Saturday and anyone needs my advice when doing their first valve adjustment and needs more info than "remove seat or "remove tank" or "remove valve covers" can email me at [email protected].

I had 36k on mine and never touched them. If it aint broke...

And the sad part of this story is that the valve clearances are fine.
So again, why are you wanting to adjust them?

I'm replacing the valve cover gaskets and they were glued to the valve cover from the factory. What is the best gasket sealer to use to glue the gaskets back on the valve covers?

Furball-

Re read his posts. He was trying to adjust them because the service manual said it was time. The only way to check them is to take the bike apart so you can get to them. You wouldn't know if they needed adjustment until you took everything apart and measured the clearance.
