Ok all, its time.... to decide the paint job for my Magna
I looked really hard at lots of custom flame, scallop, graphix, etc....

Then I stumbled across a Victory Kingpin in a bike magazine. Its a darkish pewter color with black wheels, and I am in love !!!! Its simple, yet very classy, and exactly what I'm looking for. (I think )

My quandry is this: Anybody a wiz with photoshop ? I am hesitant to pull the trigger and start spraying without having an idea of how it will look.

Would somebody be willing to work your magic with some pix of my bike and give me a general idea of what it will look like ?

There are literally thousands of sites with custom painted bikes on the net. I've looked at many of them myself to get ideas on what to do when painting my bike. I've done flames and graphics in the past and the fun part about it for me, so you don't really know what it's going to look like, till you pull the tape off. I guess that's what makes it a custom job. Color combinations are more important than the design. You can have the best design and if the colors don't fit together, it will look like a shade tree job. Keep it simple and use good paint and match your colors accordingly and you'll be fine. >PD<
Are you going to paint it yourself?

If not, then I think the best way to go about getting your bike painted is to go to the best Tattoo shop in your area and tell the BEST artist in the shop that you are interested in getting a custom paint job on your bike. this is usually about 1/2 as much as to get it painted in a shop that does custom bike painting and the Tattoo artist is going to be just as good with a brush/airbrushing as the other guy. I don't have a picture but my buddy got his entire bike painted for $500 + cost of paint. of course he had to take the parts to the artist but it's probably the sickest paint job I have ever seen on a bike.

I know that really does not answer your question of WHAT to get but maybe it will help you save some coin when you to decide...

For the love of all that doesn't suck, please, I beg you. Not all black. Not flames. Not tribal graphics. Think outside the box. This is an opportunity to not follow. Do a nice gradient. Do a pearl. Do some original striping. Do ghosted hand prints of your kids. Do... jeezuz, please just do *anything* that's not the same old crap.

Hmm, some one has an opinion!!
Send it to me and I'll do some pinstriping on it and I gar-on-tee nobody has one like it!!
I have got to go with Chornbe on this one ""surprise"". This is a great chance to stick out from the norm. Take the time to be creative. Or,,,the original idea you had about the victory scheme sounds cool too.
I agree with the not the same as everyone else but its not easy to think outside the box ive been trying to come up with ideas for a few weeks and can think of nothing for sure yet. my bike being black with the original graphics from factory on it. It just isnt easy to think outside the box

(edit) to true painter to true so Im going black with spider webs and fancy writing inside the webs
Where's the box and why is everyone going outside of it to think? Really!

Could you actually come up with something that hasn't already been done as far as custom paint is all I'm saying. There isn't anything that hasn't been painted on a tank or fenders. Unless you take photos of your family and project them onto your bike, then it's been done before.
Greetings all...

The search is over !!!! After several relaxing days in Kansas City (not including the stabbing last nite at the liquor store across the street from our hotel), I came home and put the old noggin to work on the paint for my Magna.

I was thinking about a Cadillac color, Sandstone Metallic, but thought it looked to gold, so passed on it.
I was at the local Caddy dealer this afternoon, and was talking to the salesman when he mentioned a new Buick color called "Sharkskin"
WOW
It literally looks just like the darker gray on a shark, and it will be the paint sprayed on the Magna very soon !

So fear not chorbe, as I shall nary follow the flock !
