I just recently bought a 1997 shadow spirit 1100. Its got aftermarket pipes that extend past the rear fender. The bags that came with have a big melt spot on the right underside, and there're getting warped. The bags are bolted on so I can't raise the height.

Any tips an insulating them from the exhaust heat???

What pipes and what bags??

There may not be a lot you can do about the bags you have now. If they sag on the bottom...then the leather is already stretched out. The only thing you can do is remove the weight off the bags, make a inner lining out of plexi or wood, and bolt it in place inside the bags.

I hope someone else has a better answer for you.

To be honest Joe, I don't know the manufacturer of the pipes or bags. Neither one have a logo on em. I asked the guy I bought it from and he said he didn't know (he know didn't much else either). Anyway, the bags are some sort of synthetic leather, so it looks plasticy when it melts. The pipes are a type of staggered long shots, I thought they were Vance and Hines, but don't they normally etch in their logo?
