If they were lean, you'd see white powder looking around the ground strap
and the insulator. The rim of the plug tube would be a little pitted looking
or the gold coloring would be stripped off.
BTW, just some advice...
Put some anti-seize on those plug threads.
It will keep the plugs from seizing and keep them from being hard
to get out after a few miles.
Just a small amount though... don't glob it on... too much will change the heat
range of the plug.
You need to check them after a WOT engine kill above 3/4 throttle. Checking them after idling only tells you about the slow mixture screw and pilot jet (which looks ok).
Thank you.
I ran the WOT test andit was lean, I am useing the bigest get I got in the kit. does any one have a webpage to order indvudual jets? I have been looking for the page again. thanks again
Anti-seize is recommended in aluminum heads but I don't use it. I've had many cars and bikes and never had a problem not using it. If it's a concern you can just use a drop of oil on the threads.
Thanks, I will try that next time I change the plugs,
I ended up ordering a 140 142 144 146 jets from dynojet,
the guy I talked to couldnt beleive I was running lean with a 136 and 138 jet.....
I guess there 108 is equal to the stock size...
so they should be showing up in the next day or so, and I hope it takes care of the problem.
