Well I went and picked Ida up to bring her home. Motorcycle doctor rejeted her heart and adjusted the air fuel mixture.
She liked that, now she scoots right along with out loosing her breath.
I like the change made to the rear sprocket from a 44 tooth to a 38 tooth. Made a huge difference in the rpm's at interstate speed. Hardly noticed any loss of power taking off from a dead stop.
Glad she's back. Out of curiosity, are you saying the reason for the no-start condition all this time was due to an A/F mixture adjustment? OK, I see you meant to say 'rejetted', which implies a total carb cleaning also.
I am glad she is back home again and purring happily. I first read your statement too fast and read " the doctor RE-JECTED her heart, and thought OH OH this isn't good. I re-read and felt relief.
Just sent you a pm. Rain has not been to bad. Ground was solid enough to put a trailers wheels in a ditch and back Ida off for a short ride today, a few miles around town.
Thanks RaiderBill. A VLX has a standard 44 tooth rear sprocket. I installed a 41 tooth first. It was ok but still sounded like to many rpm at 70. Well pleased with the 38 tooth, no where as many rpm at 70. Also my fuel mileage increased to 70 mpg.
Well my friend I am happy to hear Ida is back home with you safe and sound and ready for the season. I'm going to have to listen to that 38 tooth mod, I did the 41 but like you stated it still have pretty high RPM's at around 70
