Adjust my shift lever?

New boots don't fit under the shift lever easily.

Do I reposition the whole assembly on the shaft coming from the motor?

Or do I readjust the two nuts on the threaded rod?

Help!!

Try the threaded rod first. That MAY just give you enough. IF not, get that rod back to where it was then loosen the bolt on the splined shaft and move it 1 spline (towards the rear of the bike).

If none of this works....saw off the boot tops. :p

If you have to remove the linkage from the shaft you will have to completely remove the bolt before it will come of the shaft. The bolt isn't just a pinch bolt, because the bolt hole is drilled in a way that the shaft of the bolt runs across a valley in the shaft.

Just loosen the lock nuts and use a wrench to adjust the turnbucke. If you shorten it, it will raise the lever for your boot to clear.
