Leather Jacket (3d post)

I am a big believer in wearing a leather jacket for protection, but man in this July heat, I just can't do it. I hope and pray that I don't hit a deer or something when not wearing leathers. It bugs me because it seems like it is just a matter of time until something will happen. As soon as it cools down a bit I will wear the jacket again.

Do you wear a jacket in the heat?

Yeah! I have three posts now!

I do wear a mesh jacket with armor in the shoulders, elbows, and back. I try not to wear black. If your jacket has to be leather, there are perforated models available. Leather is great for its abrasion resistance, kind of like a road rash protectant. Does your jacket have any extra padding or armor?
During the summer I wear a tshirt, jeans and boots. I just can't bring myself to wear shorts:)

Harvey, my jacket doesn't seem to have any extra padding except for the removable liner. The extra padding sounds like a good idea, though.
Does it get hot up there? We are into our 50+ day stretch of over 90 tomorrow it's over 100!
I wear a mesh armoured jacket, it get hot at lights, but moving it feels great! Rode 100 or so miles yesterday and was not too hot. You can even get the matching pants if you want them, I am sticking with Wranglers though!

I know what you mean. I ride with armored leather when I go above 45 but if I'm just scooting around town at slower speeds I wear jeans, t-shirt, and half helmet.
If i am going to be doing alot of freeway riding, i wear a mesh armored jacket in the summer. otherwise, a T-shirt, jeans (or shorts) and sneakers
Summer riding gear is; Levi's, boots, t-shirt with a vest. Leathers are for winter. Summers are over 100 degrees here.
I have a heavy leather jacket I wear. I always think I am going to be uncomfortable in this heavy thing, but once I get moving I am glad I have it. It is a bear when you are stuck sitting in traffic though. I am thinking of also getting a mesh jacket with the armour for summer riding. I am not afraid I am going to crash, I am worried about all the dummy cagers out there that don't pay attention to anything but their cell phones and I would prefer to avoid major road-rash if I can. My boyfriend who has been riding for about 20+ years doesn't think anything of jeans and a tee shirt with a half-bucket helmet, but to each their own...
i wear my jacket in the morning but at 100 plus in the afternoon i dont
