Good question. I got mine of CL also. I was looking at many different brands. The Shadow was the best for the least. I've had several Hondas in the past and they never let me down. I've let them down -- but they've never let me down.

Love the Shadow even though the Bandit gets the call most often. The older I get the faster I wanna go.

My wife says the same thing. But not about the motorcycles. ;-)

Mine came at the right time for the right price and I had the Honda Buck$ to help a fellow who needed an air conditioner MORE than he needed his Shadow motorcycle

I got mine for 1500 and I have high hopes for it! Now I don't have a nagging wife anymore I get to make this my money hole =)

I bought my bike brand new after doing a bunch of research.. The Shadow is a great all-round cruiser.. It's not the best at anything.. But it's real good at most all things, that is where it's greatness comes from (in my opinion).. They are as reliable as the day is long - so great for solo riding adventure types, cheap to maintain, comfortable, manageable in size, weight and balance.. And to look at.. They are just so darn Classy!

When I started looking to get back on a bike a co-worker mentioned that in his opinion the Shadow is the best value out there. This from a MSF instructor who rides an old Katana. I wasn't looking for a cruiser, but his comment planted a seed. I looked at a lot of different bikes but when I sat on my Shadow Spirit it felt very right. A test ride confirmed it. I thought I might outgrow it, but it still feels just right. Her less than inspiring 38 horses are more than enough to get into trouble, and also is big part of why she gets over 50 mpg. I've come to see it as one of the best looking bikes out there, at least to me.

Because the Harley dealer where my bro-in-law bought his bike had one and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Now, I'm on my second one.

Pretty much the same here, and a lot of miles later, still satisfied. I have ridden bigger and different bikes, both hd and honda, I just prefer what I ride.

I fell in love with my Dad's purple and white 96 Shadow (pic in my sig) when I first saw it after he bought it new. At the time I had my 1976 Kaw KZ900Z1 until I sold it to a collector in 2004 to help pay bills while recovering from a medical issue which almost took my life. Then in 2010 after a full recovery and back working the bike itch came back and I asked my Dad if he wanted to sell his Shadow, since he didn't ride it very much choosing his Suzuki 650 Savage as his main ride. Finally last spring he offered to sell it to me and the rest is history.
