I've got a little more than 12K miles on a set of Shinko 777s. The front tire looks like it may have a couple more thousand left on it. The rear is about due for replacement.

I'm looking to move up to Avon Venoms, but they are pretty expensive. I was thinking that I'd replace the rear tire first with the Venom and then the front with the Venom it was time.

This would ease the pain of replacing both tires at once and save a little money, and try to get more miles out of the remaining front Shinko.

So my question is this; Does it matter if both tires are not the same brand, or does it present a safety issue?

Thanks

You'll be just fine. I've Mixed and matched, no adverse affects.

Some say you cant mix radial and bias tires on a motorcycle... also untrue as long as the radial is in the rear.
