I should've elaborated a little in my original post.
I've only had sportbikes in my adult life. I've had two 600RRs, a Ducati 848 (most overrated bike I've ever been on btw), and a Triumph Daytona 675 (this bike is simply amazing, I wish I still had it). About a year ago I had to sell the Truimph because I got into a little financial trouble.
I missed being on two wheels so much. A guy at work was selling his Shadow Ace, when I expressed interest in buying it he gave me a more than fair price.
I knew that the bike wouldn't be anything even remotely close to the bikes I had previously owned. I'm OK with that. I am getting older and quite frankly I was going to hurt myself on those anyway. BUT... this thing can't get out of it's own way. I guarantee my V-6 Accord would kill it in a quarter mile. I took it up to the mountains this past weekend and on the way back I had a nice straight open stretch so I tried topping it out. 90-95 was all I could get out of it.
With that said I am really, really enjoying the bike. I actually had a tough time turning it the first few days (very different than a sportbike). Now that I am used to it I am surprised by how well it handles, much better than I was expecting.
Much different experience though. I miss the thrill of the sportbike a little but I love the relaxed ride.
