i bought this 2004 honda 750 shadow aero late last summer and the bike had under 10,000 miles on it and ran really good. i put on new WWW tires, changed fluids. i'm short so the bike was top heavy for me. i lowered it 2 & 1/2 ". it had the welded on risers so i cut them off and put short risers and bought 12" ape hangers. i'm afraid that i got to long of cables for the bars and at this point i would just like to put the original bars that i cut the risers off of and rounded off real nice. yesterday, i took the air cleaner and the air cleaner mount off so that i could see if i could even handle changing cables. this consisted of removing two 6mm bolts and this knob that goes through this air cleaner holder and for the life of me i can't see where what this knob screws into. its got a small washer and spring on the end with threads on the end. i only get $1140 a month and the Honda shop wants $95 an hour that i can't afford. i bought some parts from Moto Sport and me and the fella there found what i unscrewed and it's just labeled with a # and screw set B. the fella said that it looked like the idle adjustment knob. anyone know where it screws into? it's at Moto Sport under carburator

Psycho, If it's the idle adjustment knob, it screws into the air cleaner housing stay under the air cleaner. My bike is an 07, but should be the same set-up. In the future, if you're able post up pics of what you're referring to, along with a description of your problem. (a picture is worth a thousand words, you know) If you don't yet have a manual, check the sticky notes at the top of the page for one. They're downloadable and free. Hope this helps to get you rolling. Give this place an honest chance and be patient. There's a lot of fine people here that are more than happy to help if approached in the right manner. As mentioned by another poster, It isn't a pay to play site. I paid just like you, but my only expectations were that I might be able to glean more knowledge about my bike. I have and in the process, I'd like to believe I've also gleaned more friends. Stick around. It's a great place with great people.

I totally agree with smilie.

I have the same exact bike and my entire bike has one and ONLY one knob on it.
The idle adjustment knob.

It goes directly under the air breather.
I've never removed mine so I can't say how to reinstall.
But you're one the right track.

Anyone else know why kind of chore he has at hand?

i have no idea how to get a digital picture posted. that's where this knob went through. the housing that holds the air cleaner .........i screwed it out with a screw driver so that i could get a better look at the throttle push & pull ends. i figured that it would be obvious where it screwed out of. i'm totally stupid. i have a choke knob on the left side because the first few years of the 2004 model had a carburetor. glad that i didn't loose the little washer and spring. but i've looked and looked but can see no place for the knob cable to screw into.it's about 9" long. they say that i have TbI and i'm starting to believe them.

My son has the 02 ACE which is the predisessor to yours and it has carbs if I have time I'll try to see what you are talking about tomorrow.
As for pictures just get an account with Photo bucket its free and easy to upload to then you choose a picture and a list of photo type will come up to the right of the picture, click on the bottom one, can't remember what its call but when you click on it it will say copied and turn yellow for a couple seconds then go to the place you want to post it, right click and then left click on poast and the URL will show in your post. Once yore done and enter the post it will com up as the picture. That's the easiest way I know to post a picture and then it will be much easier for people to help you seeing what you are talking about.
Hope that helps.

yes sir that's the knob. i've had the cover off for some time to keep it from getting scratches. that knob goes through the housing and there's a screw that i unscrewed and it un-threaded at the end of this cable that's about 9" long.........i'll have to figure out how to post pictures, but you got the right one there

I just watched this video of a hypercharger installation.
It appears that the idle adjustment knob and stem you removed is actually a flexible cable. Makes me believe that it curves to a location on the bottom of the carburetor or something. Probably why you can't see the location.

Watch the video.... Not much info but it's good.

Sorry about the exposure! LOL
Just kidding.

Live and learn. There are no stupid questions.
I didn't know what you didn't know either.
We both learned. We are both more better now.

Unforutnately, you might have to remove the carb to get that hooked back up.

i'm not going to make things worse by removing the carb. i removed the floorboard but still can't see where that goes. i thought that i was removing the knob, not unscrewing the cable from the carb. shoot. it ran so good to when i drove it, just wanted the bars a little bit changed.
thanks everyone,
LJ

i did reply once but i don't see it here now. i did get the carb off and the idle knob cable back in place. i noticed weirdness on the wiring on the throttle cable end also........someone spliced two wires into one and covered that with electrical tape.i can move it around now so i ordered both a left and right switches from Motosport (they've got 25% off). with the short riser and my welded off risers gone, i'll be able to write this off and have new wires and switches and i'll be able to move my handlebars up a bit.
i'll just clean up the rest of the spliced in wiring that has been done and watch this site tell next winter and if this country hasn't collapsed by then i might put ape hangers on. live and learn.......just hope that i can get that carb back on. thanks.

Good deal!

I did the same thing to my handlebars. I cut and ground the risers off and then installed aftermarket risers that pull back slightly. Then I rotated my bars up slightly. I really wish they were taller bars but I'm not ready for the expense and the pain of doing all new controls.
